MOUNT OLIVE PLACES 125 STUDENT-ATHLETES ON 2010 SPRING SEMESTER CONFERENCE CAROLINAS PRESIDENTIAL HONOR ROLL
A total of125 Mount Olive College student-athletes - representing all 17 sports - were named to the 2010 Spring Semester Conference Carolinas Presidential Honor Roll. The Honor Roll recognizes student-athletes who compiled a 3.0 or better grade point average during the 2010 Spring Semester. Full Story
TROJAN BASEBALL ALUM RYAN KUSSMAUL SIGNS WITH CHICAGO WHITE SOX ORGANIZATION
Ryan Kussmaul, a 2010 Mount Olive College graduate, has signed a contract with the Chicago White Sox and has been assigned to their Single-A affiliate, the Kannapolis (N.C.) Intimidators of the South Atlantic League. Kussmaul's contract was purchased from the Southern Illinois Miners of the Frontier League, where he was selected to the West Division All-Star Team. At Mount Olive, Kussmaul was named to the 2009 All-Conference Carolinas Second Team, posting a 5-2 record with a 3.61 earned run average, two complete games, one shutout and one save. Full Story
14 TROJAN STUDENT-ATHLETES SELECTED TO ARTHUR ASHE SPORTS SCHOLAR TEAMS
Fourteen Mount Olive College student-athletes have been selected to 2010 Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholars Teams. The award recognizes undergraduate student-athletes of color with a minimum 3.2 cumulative grade point average and who are active on campus or in their community. The Sports Scholars teams are comprised of student-athletes from all college and university classifications: NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA, other four-year college associations and two-year colleges. MOUNT OLIVE COLLEGE, TOWN OF CARY AWARDED NCAA II BASEBALL NATIONAL FINALS THROUGH 2013
Town of Cary and Mount Olive College, which have co-hosted the National Finals of the 2009 and 2010 NCAA Division II Baseball Championships, will continue to co-host the National Finals through 2013, it was announced by the NCAA Championships Committee. The National Finals will continue to be held at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, N.C. Full Story
